National Student Clearinghouse

, , , ,

The National Student Clearinghouse (a nonprofit formed in 1993) is the trusted source for and leading provider of higher education verifications and electronic education record exchanges, handling more than 700 million verification requests and 250 million education record exchanges annually. The Clearinghouse serves as a single point of contact for the collection and timely exchange of accurate and comprehensive enrollment, degree, and certificate records on behalf of its more than 3,500 participating higher education institutions, which represent 98 percent of all students in public and private U.S. institutions.

Aivilo provides accessibility consulting, user experience, and technical project management services to the National Student Clearinghouse for a number of their services including Transcript Ordering, Student Academic Portal and Student Tracker for Colleges.

For their Transcript Ordering Service, Aivilo reviewed the service against Section 508 requirements, remediated the issues, and created a VPAT to document the applications level of compliance. Aivilo staff also were involved with managing and developing the Clearinghouse’s initiative to create a ‘touch free’ eTrascripts solution in strategic alliance with Ellucian. This product enables real-time electronic authentication, production, and transfer of transcripts between the Clearinghouse and Ellucian’s administrative systems (Banner, Colleague, and Power Campus). Read about the eTranscripts.

Aivilo provided technical project management services to NSC to migrate one of their legacy web applications to Oracle’s Application Development Framework. At the same time this application was targeted for a redesign and needed to be Section 508 compliant so Aivilo also provided user experience and accessibility expertise.

Aivilo continues to provide UX and accessibility services for NSC on various projects. Aivilo also maintains and updates their VPATs when new product releases occur.

Federal Training Exchange

, , ,

Federal Training Exchange (FTE) is a free site for Federal training professionals to share their training materials amongst fellow Federal training professionals across all agencies in a secure setting. When approached to build the site, Aivilo first developed a set of functional requirements which included process flows and wireframes. FTE is a custom built site that includes a powerful search function allowing members to quickly find training materials already purchased by the U.S. Government. Avilo also developed a tool that allows members to upload their own materials, rate other training materials, and request customized materials. There is also an administrative backend allowing FTE staff easy access to modify/add/delete training materials and manage user accounts.

Evolution Basketball Training

, , ,

Evolution Basketball offers small group and private basketball training, camps and clinics to young men and women in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. area. Their programs are available year round and are open to beginners all the way up to college recruits. Evolution had always maintained a content rich site but when it began to use social media extensively, the site did not prove flexible enough. Further, having been designed in Front Page, the client found web page editing difficult and file uploading almost impossible. Aivilo developed an information architecture that incorporated the client’s social media outlets and an integrated blogging platform. Aivilo developed a new user interface and presented the client with several design mockups. Aivilo selected WordPress as the content management platform as it was flexible enough to accommodate the project requirements and scalable to meet future needs. The client wanted to continue to maintain the site content as well as expand the site (regularly blog entries, new web pages, etc.). The client was thrilled at how easy it was to edit existing content, create new web pages, and even manage the slideshow graphics on the homepage using the WordPress administrative interface.

Quinley Risk Associates, LLC

Kevin Quinley had a website in place, but it was being phased out by the hosting company. Kevin contacted Aivilo needing his current site content and domain name moved over to a new hosting environment, including his online store for publications and his externally hosted blog. Aivilo installed and configured WordPress to house his site content, an events plugin for his speaking schedule and the Shopp plugin for his store items. Aivilo migrated his blog content to the new site and installed various social media plugins to feature his Twitter and YouTube content. Kevin’s online presence was transitioned seamlessly, while adding key features and updating his design.
